I took this photo this afternoon when I was driving home from the gym.

I wish I was a better photographer. I’m going to make an effort to start taking more photos. Isn’t there some sort of cliche about practice making you better?

On Friday (yesterday) a big SUV covered in decals pulled into the parking lot of my office. Three people hopped out, and came in to announce that one of my co-workers had entered a “catered lunch for my office” contest, and won.
We all got free food from Baja Fresh, and t-shirts, and CDs and we screamed on live radio. It was kind of surreal. I’ve heard of such contests before, but I never really imagined myself on the winning side of such a thing.
Crazy, huh?

I went to a concert in Los Angeles last weekend, and I met a guy that was really handsome, and all-around pleasant.
We couldn’t talk too much because the music was loud, but I had the opportunity to drop a couple of details about my life, and I learned a little about him too.
I didn’t give him my telephone number or my email address. I did think about slipping him my business card, but that’s kind of lame. So you can imagine my surprise when I got an email from this tall/dark/handsome cliche of a man this morning.
He did some googling and figured out my name, and found the political blog that I run. His email said this:
Mike: I enjoyed meeting you last Saturday and wish we could have talked a little more. If you’re interested in chatting, email me. Maybe we could arrange to sit together again–this time in a locale that will allow us to get us to know one another better.
Sweet huh? I feel like a character in some chic-flick.

If you didn’t know, I run a political blog at TheLiberalOC.com. I posted my first video blog over there and thought that I would cross post here so anyone looking at this site could see video.

I’ve been trying really hard to get to the gym more frequently. I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes a few weeks ago and my doctor and I are trying to regulate my blood sugar.
Because of my age and my activity level, she is going to see how effective a new diet and one oral medication will be. My doctor has warned me that insulin injections are probably in my future and I have to try really hard to do whatever I can to keep my blood sugar down on my own.
So I should be going to the gym right now. I thought about hitting the treadmill and then lifting some weights–it’s been a couple of days since I lifted anything and my arms have finally recovered from the last time I lifted (Monday).
I’m still doing good with my yoga routine–every Friday. I am thinking about adding the Wednesday yoga class to the routine, and I was going to give it a try this last Wednesday but I had a 24-hour bug that kept me in bed for most of the day.
I’m just having a hard time motivating myself to get off of my bed (I got a laptop last weekend so I can now blog in bed!) and get in my car and go to the gym.
UPDATE: I ended up going and spending one hour on the tread and another 40 minutes lifting. And I feel like a million yen!

I’m very excited when new seasons of my favorite shows start. This week alone marks the beginning of Heroes, Ugly Betty, and Grey’s Anatomy.
I’m also looking forward to the start of Desperate Housewives this weekend–they wrote such an awesome cliff hanger for the season finale.

I started job searching outside of California.
I’m not too sure why I’m doing it. I’m very happy with the job that I have right now, and I’m generally happy with everything else in my life.
I just worry that I’ll end up digging such a huge hole for myself here in Southern California that I’ll never be able to leave.
Cities on my list include Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle, San Diego.
