This is the me solving a Rubik’s.

Published by Mike Lawson under Uncategorized

I’m not certain why I’m fascinated with the Rubik’s.  It takes me about 5-6 minutes to solve right now, and I plan on getting it down to two.

Here’s a sped-up version of me solving the cube:

This is the one where I donate life.

Published by Mike Lawson under Uncategorized

I’ve been living here in Arizona for a few months now, but it’s taken me a while to get off my butt and finish the little bit of paperwork to become part of the organ donor registry.

Are you an organ donor?  Why not?

Don’t give me that old urban legend about paramedics being less likely to save your ass because they see you are a donor.  Why would a paramedic decide that your life is less valuable than someone that needs a transplant?

So now its official.

Death is sad.  I’m hoping that something positive will come from mine.

I took a break from the AFI movies and watched a documentary called This Film Is Not Yet Rated.

Wow.

This is the one where I solicit suggestions

Podcast.jpg

Podcasting is so 2006, right?

Well I’m spending almost 2 hours in the car each day, and the shitty family truck has a poor radio system and I usually just stuff my ear (singular) with an iPod earplug.

And I like the music on my iPod.  And with smart playlists I have been able to skip all the skipping that usually takes place when I just shuffle.  But somethings missing…I need that drive-time program that entertains and gives you a little more than just the music.

If anyone listens to a podcast on a regular basis and thinks that I would enjoy it, please let me know in the comments or by emailing me.

This is the one with a great birthday gift.

Published by Mike Lawson under Uncategorized

I wanted to elaborate.

In my last traffic blog I talked about how I don’t place too much importance on birthday gifts, and I’m thinking that it could have something to do with the Lawson family’s way of dealing with birthdays.

I had one Birthday party when I was in kindergarten, and all of the subsequent birthdays usually included a card and some cash.  Don’t get me wrong…I’m thankful that my parents were able to provide me with money.  My point is that we don’t spend a lot of time recognizing birthdays up in here.

Last year I received a lot of attention on my birthday thanks to my blog buddies at TheLiberalOC.com.  And I remember being really thankful that people cared enough about me to buy a cake and food and presents and sign a card.  It’s all nice.

I just don’t like the idea of people going out of their way to buy me something, or give me a b-day “holla.”

With all that said, I received one of the best birthday presents I’ve ever received this week.  Look what Mr. D. bought me:

It’s a framed concert poster from a concert that I have described in the past as “life-altering.”  Incredibly thoughtful of him, huh?  And you can’t tell in this photo but he got it framed and it looks 20 times better than the photo shows.

I can’t wait to hang it.
