I was reminded the other day of a story that my sister wanted me to forget. I was about five years old, and my sister was nine.
My parent’s work schedules were odd, and there was a 4-hour window where we were left unsupervised during the summer.
My sister played this little “game” with me, where she said that I was running a restaurant, and the entire kitchen was my diner. She was running a woman’s clothing boutique, and her entire bedroom was her shop.
I would be discouraged from stepping into her shop…because I had no need for women’s clothing, but she’d stop at my diner every day for lunch. She’d make me cook for her!
As a little kid, I thought that this game was fun. Yet in retrospect I realize that I was totally getting played.

As always, here’s a picture of a kid using the naughty finger to help you get through your Monday.

Yesterday when I was digging through old photos looking for a father/son photo to post, I came across the picture above.
It’s me, and it looks like there is a cigarette in my mouth. “Hey mom, look at this,” I said as I handed her the photo.
“Oh, that’s a cute one,” she said.
“There’s a cigarette in my mouth,” I said.
“Yeah, you were a wacky kid.”
Wacky? Wacky as in the type of kid that like to chain smoke? Or Wacky as in the type of kid that picked random cigarettes off the ground and put them in my mouth?
And who thought, “Hey, little Michael has a cigarette in his mouth! Let’s snap a picture of that!”

I spent an hour digging through old photos to find one of me and my dad, and I only came up with one or two. The one above was my favorite because it shows my dad with a lot of hair–something that he’s seriously lacking nowadays.
I cooked breakfast for my family this morning and we sat around and talked. I was reminded of some pretty funny stories that I’ll have to blog about in the near future.
I bought my dad the three DVD set of the Indiana Jones movies…it was on sale at Target, and it was something that I kinda wanted to watch myself.
If you’re a father and you read my blog, Happy Father’s Day.

This is a challenge. I challenge you to make next week a good one. Try to focus on these words this week:

The concept is pretty easy. On the 12th of the month you take 12 photos. It wasn’t my idea; the credit goes to Chad (click through to see the 12 of 12 of others too).
I’ve been doing it since March, and you can see all of my 12 of 12s here.
And here are my photos for June:

How can you have a bad day after waking up next to that.

A little Million Dollar Password on the TiVo before heading off to work.

My batch of pictures always includes needles and bloody fingers….but that’s my reality.

Outside the recording studio at work.

Have you seen my cute skin for my BlackBerry?

This is our think-table…it’s where the kiddies let their imaginations go wild.

There’s something about an empty gymnasium that makes me sad, and creeps me out at the same time.

Sick. Someone left an open Tampax in the uni-sex bathroom right next to the toilet. Who is thinking to themselves, “Oh, I’ll just use this open one here that someone left.” Gross. Gross. Sick.

God. Damn. It.

I drive by a lot of nothingness on the way home.

My sister found this old record that we played the hell out of, and left it on my desk. You can kinda see the crayon mark around his eyes. I was into Photoshop even before I had a computer.

You can’t call it an evening without a prick of the finger and a droplet of blood.

Three hours!
Seriously, I sat in Mr. D’s office on Saturday morning and we put together an iTunes playlist for a little get-together we were having, and we scrolled through Mr. D’s humongous library, and it took us three hours to make the most eclectic mix we could.
He’s got the most random shit in his collection. From Country to Musicals to Rock to Pop. Some of the most bizarre stuff is the Eurovision “music.”
And as luck would have it, iTunes got all screwy an hour or so after guests arrived, and Mr. D had to switch to random play anyway.
