I was browsing through my boyfriend’s iTunes last week and I stumbled across an Liz Phair’s self-titled, which I hadn’t heard in years. When I first got the album it was one of those CDs that never left the player for a few months.
I actually don’t really like Liz Phair that much, but I went to a taping of Ellen and Liz was the musical guest, and they gave away the CD. And I was surprised at how much I liked it.
And I know that this isn’t an original observation, but isn’t it odd how music can take you back to a moment of your past? What was most striking about the throw-back that I received last week was how precise it was. When I heard it, I was like, “Summer, 2003. Gas cost $1.56 a gallon. LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers. Finding Nemo was big at the box office. And I was bumping this CD in my ugly Jeep Cherokee.”
The most popular cut was probably Why Can’t I?

It’s been a while since I’ve worked on a Saturday…but today is The Boys & Girls Clubs National Day for Kids.
This holiday was created by Boys & Girls Clubs of America to help foster relationships between adults and children, and the official mission is to “establish a day to celebrate and honor American children through the gift of meaningful time.”
We know that when kids spend time with adults (parents, teachers, family members, Boys & Girls Club mentors, librarians, adult siblings, etc.) it helps the children create a positive self-image and a true sense of belonging.
Today, my club will be giving adult/children relationships a few hours in a fun setting to take a break from their day-to-day and to celebrate the fulfillment of spending time together.
If you’re reading this on Saturday, and you have a little kiddo in your life, click here to find a Day For Kids event near you.

A friend sent me this YouTube of a CNN report and it’s just too good not to share:

I’m a huge fan of community theater and the less than perfect quality that accompanies the tiny budget of local shows. What high school productions and community theaters lack in cash, they make up with dedicated performers that belt it out under poor lighting and shitty sound. Love it!

There are two initatives that Arizonans will be voting on in November with similar proposition numbers.
Prop 102 is the gay marriage iniative that, if passed, would ammend the Arizona Constitution to include a little anti-gay blurb about marriage being sacred…blah blah blah.
Prop 201 is a prop that would extend new-home warranties, and opponents say that it’s going to cause a deluge of lawsuits.
Well this morning I was driving and I passed a “VOTE NO ON 201″ sign, and some stupid (or dyslexic) homophobe spray painted on it. They crossed out the “AVOID LAWSUIT ABUSE” and wrote “Gay Marriages” and then in bigger letters wrote “VOTE YES.”
Silly biggot. Voting is for smart people.
If I need to remind you, vote “NO” on 102.”

I just found out that I’m $65,000 in debt.
And I didn’t even overspend…it was the fuck head that is using my social security number. A few weeks ago I was looking into getting an auto loan, and I found a guy in the credit department at a local dealer that was really cool and he talked about my credit with me. In the conversation he said, “So are you looking to get an additional car? Or will you be trading in the car that you’re financing?”
Ugh…I’m not financing a car.
So I realize that there’s a butt load of negative credit on my credit report. But even obtaining a credit report is difficult because there are qualifying questions you need to answer about your credit to prove that you are who you say you are. The questions were refering to open loans and credit cards that aren’t really mine…so I was essentially locked out of my own credit report.
Mr. Ramos has 5 credit cards, a $16,000 bank loan, $22,000 GMAC car loan, $15,000 Yamaha motorcycle loan, $1,000 Best Buy loan, and over $2,000 in medical bills on my credit report.
I’m on hold with Experian as I’m typing this, and I’m certain that things will come out okay. It’s just a hassle.
I’m a pretty non-violent person, but I’ve never wanted to punch someone in the face so badly.
