This is the one where I start over.

GoDaddy.com sucks.  Seriously sucks.

I’ve been a customer there for about four years, and I’ve hosted many sites with them…including this one.  Last weekend when people clicked onto this site they were redirected to a wordpress install page.

WTF?

So after talking to GoDaddy tech support (which took a few days to get a hold of them, and I sat on hold for over 45 minutes), I was told to basically go deal with the issues on my own.

Very unhelpful.

If anyone is looking for a company to purchase web hosting from, I wouldn’t pick GoDaddy.  I’ve never had problems in the past, but now my entire blog is wipped out.  EVERYTHING.  Gone.

I’m going to take a few days off, and I’ll be blogging again next week.

Check out Dreamhost. I never had a problem with them, and their newsletter is hysterical.

I used to use Dreamhost as well. They worked fine for what I needed at the time. Not sure how their web interface is now but that’s the one thing I hated about their service.

Backup, Backup, Backup!! I use WP-DBManager plugin and it sends me a database backup every week to my gmail where it is safe and sound.

I was wondering what was going on when I clicked on your site. I am sorry you lost all your content. I agree with Daniel about the backup. I don’t care how good a host is, there can be problems.

That sucks! I’d be pissed in the extreme. :-(

That’s really stupid. I’d be so mad if my blog vanished.
Well at least you’re continuing over here. I look forward to the new start.

    А если кто-нибудь с вами не согласится?

Oh man! I wondered why I hadn’t seen anything in my reader from you. I can’t believe they just told you it was gone, you think they’d have a backup.

I use GoDaddy myself, I’m gonna make damn well sure everything is backed up tonight. Got a little less than a year on my subscription, I will not be going back if they pull crap like this.

Just a thought… if a lot of your stuff is still showing up in my Google Reader (I could keep on scrolling and older stuff loaded), maybe it still exists out there somewhere?

Dunno how you could save a Google feed, but it’s a thought.

Oh man, that really sucks. I host through Victoly, and they have been awesome. It’s gone down a few times, but Paul is my savior and helps me out anytime I need it. Sorry to hear about your troubles!

GoDaddy sucks for hosting. I have used Bluehost and HostGator for blog sites. They have been good. Avoid IXWEBHOSTING. You’ll get hacked over there.

Lol, yeah, I’ve always heard stories about GoDaddy’s webhosting. It’s pretty shitty. I only go to them for domains, but considering that namecheap is actually cheaper, I may or may not end up moving.
