This is the one where I give.

Published by User ImageMike Lawson under Benevolent Blogger

I’m still participating in the Benevolent Blogger Project.  This week I donated my 2.5% to my friends at The Diabetes Hands Foundation.  These are the same folks that run TuDiabetes.com.

I really wish I could have given more.  I may just have to repeat this donation in a few weeks.

In other Benevolent Blogger news, we added another blogger to the list.  The Prissy Cook is giving–both time and mooola.  Check her site out.

So what are you waiting for?  Start giving!  Drop me an email to tell me that you’re in, and I’ll add you to the list.

This is the one about the Benevolent Blogger Project.

Remember how I give 2.5% of my paycheck to a charity every-other week?  Well this week I donated to Jumpstart.

Jumpstart pairs motivated college students with preschool children together.  The college students help raise family involvement in early literacy activities with their children, and as a result these children enter elementary school more prepared and with greater support from their families.  This organization also helps their volunteers enter careers in education.

And I’ve been really slow in updating the Benevolent Blogger page, but we’ve added a new person: Gayle from So…What else, what else, what else?

This is the one where I gave my 2.5%.

Today is payday…that means I get to figure out where to give my 2.5%.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? Go to the Benevolent Blogger Project page and read how you can get involved.

This week I decided to give my moooooola to the Trevor Project. If you haven’t heard of them, they operate a nation-wide 24/7 crisis and suicide prevention helpline for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. They also run education programs for parents and youth-educators to help them deal with the sensitive subject of coming-of-age youth.

I think that these numbers are low, but in 1999 it was estimated that 33% of gay youth will attempt suicide and gay teen suicide attempts are four times that of heterosexual youth.

Did you give today? Send me your Benevolent Blogger link.

This is the one where I become a benevolent blogger.

I’ve started this little thing called The Benevolent Blogger.

I’ve created a permanent page at: WhatSomeWouldCallLies.com/benevolentblogger

Join me, and help me spread the word about this project.
