The political blog that I created back in Orange County is still going strong. They just celebrated two major accomplishments. They passed the 6,000 post this past weekend and they are celebrating their fifth year publishing to the web.
I’ve written birthday posts there a few times, and they truly explain why I created the website [link]. So I decided for this momentous occasion to write a more jokey article about some of my favorite posts as an author there. Click here to go read it.

My good friend Cherisse came to town for Phoenix Pride this weekend. We had a lot of fun…and there are photos to prove it. Check out my Flickr or my Facebook.

Three years ago today I packed all of my shit into a Uhaul and moved to Phoenix [link]. Since then I’ve had some really great things happen to me, and I’ve had some really crappy things happen. But I think that I’m starting to really make a rebound.
In the past few years here in AZ I’ve made some stupid choices, and I’ve kind of paid for that. And it might be a bit cliché, but it’s true: if you don’t know what you want, you’re going to end up with a lot you don’t.
This coming year is my year. Watch out.

This post is kind of a hodgepodge of topics that I’m throwing together.
Firstly, I want to say that Summer Camp is almost over. If your’e counting, I’ve got two days left. That means in two days I will have a bit more free time, and I won’t be at work from sun rise to sunset. I really couldn’t be more happy about this. Whenever our After School Program is ending and we’re gearing up for summer, I find myself thinking, “I’m so ready to be done with the After School Program. Thank god summer is starting.” And now that summer is winding down, I’m thinking the opposite.
Secondly I’m taking a group of teenagers to California’s Six Flags amusement park tonight. We’re leaving around midnight and returning at 6 a.m. on Friday. I’m quite certain I’ll be bored, so follow me on Twitter to converse with me on the trip.
I also finished two books in the past week (give or take). The 33rd book I read this year was Lux The Poet by Martin Millar. In ten words: Incredibly jarbled and choppy but it is a decent story. The 34th book I read in 2010 was Indecision by Benjamin Kunkel. I picked up the book because I heard Kunkel on a radio interview or podcast (I don’t remember where) and came across his new relase at the library. In ten words: Convoluted and not worth the time it took to read.
For those of you that still read this blog, thanks. I’ll be giving it more attention in the near future.

I took a bus load of pimply teens to Southern California last weekend. We actually had a lot of fun.
The only downer was that we left at 11pm and drove through the night…and since I was driving the bus, I was exhausted on Saturday.

The kids thought this motel sign was hillarious. We had to stop to photograph it.
The Buena Park club let us stay in their teen center.

This sight really brings back memories. How many times did we cruise down Grand Ave. Especially when we were poor teenagers, moving our car every three hours so it wouldn’t get towed.

This weekend I’m taking a bus load of angsty teens to Southern California…more particularly to Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park.
I got roped into the deal since I’m one of the few salaried employees that can drive the club bus. And it’s super difficult and super expensive to work out the payment of hourly employees for a weekend trip.
We leave late Friday night. Arrive Saturday morning. Depart Sunday morning.
Should be easy, right? Oh and to save cash on lodging, we’ll be sleeping on the floors of a club in the area that was nice enough to give us weekend access.
I only wish I had time to meet up with some of my California friends when I was out there.

It’s only taken me a week to pull them off of my camera. Here are the photos from the vacation I took to So. California last weekend with Mr. D.

We had a 2 hour window to waste when we arrived, so we stopped at the Crystal Cathedral. I used to live right next to this over-sized church, and had spent some time on the grounds previously. So I showed D around.

The silver baby Jesus.

Made sure to stop at YogurtLand. You’d be surprised to know that YogurtLands don’t exist in Phoenix. But there will be a Scottsdale location soon.

Laguna Beach. Someone had the bright idea of walking out in the tidepools without shoes on. Ouch.

Stopped at Olivera Street before meeting Mr. D’s cousin in LA.

At a bar called Flux.

Some lesbian came out of the ladies room swinging a bra over her head. I threw it on and took a few photos (drunk).

Daniel.

Alf.

Cherisse.

I’m taking my first trip back to California since I moved to Arizona just over a year ago. It’s crazy to think that it’s been a year already.
Me and D are driving out on Friday, and we’ll be back on Sunday.
Pictures to come.
