They could have misread what was intended as a positive note as mocking them and their unhealthiness. You should leave another note explaining the misunderstanding! Maybe just an unambigious one. "Your heart beating faster is good for your body! And it's beating faster now because you took the stairs! Good job, really!" OR you could leave a personal note in an envelope addressed to whomever tore that first one down. You could ask them to leave you a note to explain why they did it... that would be fun. I don't think they'd be likely to respond but you could try to reach out. You never know! I've made a few friends through weird anonymous correspondences like this... it might happen!
