Mike Lawson's Storytelling Blog - Part 4

This is the one about giving up.

It’s Monday! So here is my new mantra on my mirror for the week.  Each week I write a little inspirational message on a post-it and put it on my bathroom mirror.  Throughout the week I try to focus on this message to get me through the week.

What’s your mantra for the week?

First mantra in my new apartment.

Here’s my mantra for the week:

This is the one about Hiccups.

It wasn’t exactly a Nobel Prize in Literature…but it was close.  This week I’ll tell you about the time I wrote an award-winning piece of fiction.  Plus, I’ll announce the winner of the What Some Would Call Lies t-shirt giveaway.

What’s your mantra for the week?

This week I’d like to focus on finding activities that make me happy.  Volunteer?  Book club?  Writers group.  I’m looking.

Here’s my mantra for the week:

Do What Makes You Happy

This is the one about a realization.

Episode 9: Biopic

I think that Paul Walker should play me.

Thank you guys for your emails.  Remember that you can email me by writing any profane word or phrase and then put a @whatsomewouldcalllies.com after it.  The sicker and more profane the better.

This is the one about pronunciations.

Happy Friday, y’all!

This week I’ve been incredibly entertained by something kinda silly.  Earlier this week I googled “How to pronounce gyro” and I got this result:

The YouTube user Pronunciationbook made the video and he has a bunch of them that pronounce words.  But that is NOT what I <3 this week.  What I’m totally loving is the dickhead that made a YouTube account under the name PronunciationManual and he mispronounces words.

I’ve been LLOLing (Literally Laughing Out Loud).

Friday January 13th, 2012: I <3 PronunciationManual on YouTube.

This is the one about puppets.

Here’s Episode 8 of What Some Would Call Lies.

Listen!

Some of life’s toughest dilemmas can be solved by a person who manipulates an inanimate object in real time to create the illusion of life.

This is the one with what I love this week.

It’s Friday!

It has been a somewhat hectic week and it’s been nearly impossible to keep my energy levels up this week.  I was very happy, however, to find Portlandia on Netflix this week.

Portlandia is a sketch comedy show with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein set in Portland.

If you get IFC or if you have Netflix streaming, I suggest you check it out.  Some of my favorites are the “Put A Bird On It” people and the “Did you read…” sketch (YouTube vid below).

FRIDAY, JANUARY 6th, 2012… I <3 Portlandia.
