Like a six-year-old on the monkey bars…I’ve let go of the rung behind me and I’m reaching out toward the rung in front of me. I’m sort of in between. Sort of hopeful. Sort of excited. And sort of terrified.
If you want to follow me on the journey, I’ll be posting photos to Instagram (username mrmikelawson) or tweeting (@mrmikelawson)
And if you live in the Bay Area, hit me up. I’m rebuilding my friend database and would love to meet!

I’m completely in love with this episode, so proud of you for taking the leap, and hoping you’ll have time to meet up if I’m ever in San Fran.
OMG I didn’t listen and I googled blue waffle! WHYYYYY!
I will never be able to unsee that. Thanks, Mike-
I hope you’re doing well, my friend. Seems like just yesterday I was hugging you at the elevator at Roche, knowing your future was ready and waiting…knowing this opportunity was the start of a new dream. And knowing that it meant I’d probably never sit next to you at Sky Harbor, waiting for a mutual flight again.
I wish we had played more while you were here, but I’m thrilled for the new adventure you’re on!!!!!
I have to agree about falling in — and out of — love with this city. When I think of where I’m “from”, it’s hard to put my finger on, because I’ve lived so many places…but I would consider the Washington DC area my “home”. Now that I have a family, I’m doing the best I can to accept AZ as “home”…because this is where their memories will be…this is where they are growing up. But, I can’t lie — my heart will never fully belong to this city.
I hope to have a chance to come visit DHF sometime…and I hope our paths will cross frequently through our respective diabetes advocacy journeys.
Keep being awesome, Mike. Welcome Home
OH…and PS…I wanted you to hear this version of “Somebody That I Used to Know”…not sure if you’ve seen it or not, but look closely. How many instruments is the band using?
