This is the one about my addiction.

I’ve got a serious addiction. And I know it’s a problem because it’s affecting all aspects of my life. It’s affecting my work. It’s affecting my relationships with family and friends.
I’m dependent on chapstick.
Some of you may laugh and say that this isn’t a textbook chemical dependence, but actually just a meaningless psychological dependence. That is not the case.
Chapstick has menthol, camphor, and phenol in it…all of which are responsible for temporary soothing my pain, and then ultimately drying and irritating my lips again.
It’s a vicious cycle, and I don’t think you can truly understand what I’m going through unless you’ve been through it, or if you’ve tried to stop a heroin addiction.
Any suggestions that don’t include the word “turkey?”

The only way to kill a chapstick addiction is by stopping cold salami. Your lips need to learn how to survive without a layer of WAX on the outside of them. You know how new skin under a scap is kind of tender? That’s exactly what your lips are when they are not covered in chapstick wax, new skin. They need to learn how to survive in the real world and there is no way to “wean” them off. You just have to stop and suffer for a few days. You’ll survive! I have faith in you!!

Vitamin E works great — provides moisture to the lips; doesn’t dry them out. Oh, and it’s natural.

I don’t understand what the big deal is. I have the same addiction and I’m ok with it. Just let it be.
