This is the one where I give up booze.

beerI didn’t just jump into this decision.  In fact, I’ve been thinking about doing this since the end of March.  Since my birthday.  Since that horrible weekend when I drank too much and don’t remember falling in the middle of a street, and ended up staying in bed for the following 2 days recuperating.

Since that birthday weekend I’ve had night of drinking.  We had a game night, and I drank a margarita or two.  But I have no desire to booze to the point of intoxication.  No desire.

In fact, I kind of have this strange desire to be the kind of guy that doesn’t drink.  Not the snobby I-don’t-approve-of-your-drinking kind of guy that won’t hang out with drinkers.  But rather a I-respect-your-choice-to-drink-but-I’m-going-to-just-have-a-diet-soda-and-have-just-as-much-fun-as-you kind of guy.

You dig?

I think that’s a great idea, particularly with diabetes. I haven’t had an alcoholic drink since I was 17, which is sort of weird because I drank at family events and religious events and stuff for about five years before that.
But I think that drinking and diabetes is a really bad mix, especially if it’s more than one drink and it’s not with a meal.

I think it’s a great idea too! lol.
And everyone always asks me “Isn’t it awkward at parties when you’re the only one not drinking?” and honestly, it’s not. I’ve never felt awkward because of the fact that I don’t drink. In my experience, when lots of people are gathered together and drinking, they don’t all get REALLY drunk. Therefore, many of them are seem as if they are sober and you can just talk to them like normal. I guess that depends on how much your friends like drinking. haha.
