This is the one written on the day of a full-moon. | What Some Would Call Lies

This is the one written on the day of a full-moon.

I had the “pleasure” of spending an afternoon at a local elementary school.  I’m trying to branch out into our community a little more and meet people.  I’m such a kid though…the plan was to meet up with school administrators and teachers, but I spent most of the time playing kickball and gossiping with a 11-year-old.

When I was talking with one of the school counselors, she mentioned that the kids have been particularly rowdy the past few days.  “Well,” she said, “what do you expect? Tomorrow is a full-moon.”

And I laughed.  Perhaps a bit too much.  Because as the conversation progressed, I started to notice things:

  1. She was wearing turquoise jewelry.
  2. She kept mentioning the full-moon
  3. She never laughed

“Oh god,” I thought.  “She really believes in this full-moon mumbo jumbo.”  I wish I could have taken back all or at least part of my huge laugh that I gave after she first mentioned it.

The full moon stuff is REAL! I’m just waiting for the bomb to drop here at work. Something funky always happens on full moons.

Friends of mine that work in the hospital Emergency Department all swear that it’s busier in the ED during a full moon.
