This is the one with a hypothetical.

Category: music

Would anyone here judge me if I said that I couldn’t wait to go to a record store to purchase the new Madonna album Hard Candy that dropped today?

What if I said that I was so excited that, even though I really had to pee when I woke up, I started the iTunes download before I went to the bathroom.

What if I told you that I was thinking about calling out sick today so I could sit at home and listen to my newly purchased music?

And this is all hypothetical.

You’ve probably already listened to it once through already.  So?  How do you like it?

Well, if this post was about me then yes I’ve listened to it a few times.  And again, hypothetically speaking, I love it.

There is very little that Madge can do that I won’t love.

I’m so sad to report that I’m disappointed by Hard Candy.  I knew from the instant they said she was collaborating with Timbaland, JT, The Neptunes, et al. that it wouldn’t be that great.  Not inventive at all…

    Brett,

    You were expecting inventive?!?

Madonna’s albums stopped being inventive when she started writing her own stuff.  So I guess that kind of means she’s never really been inventive.  Right?

For some reason a good Madonna song just puts me in a relaxed state.  Turn on VOGUE and I’m in an immediate good mood.  Give me a little RAY OF LIGHT and I forget those things that were pissing me off three minutes before.

For me it’s not about inventive…it’s about uplifting.

    Mike,
Well said, music should always be able to lift the spirit.  While I’m not a fan of Madonna (a minority in the gay community to say the least), if it makes you forget the crap we all go through in life, then enjoy it!

Ok - not inventive on Madonna’s part, but who she picked as a producer(s).  Ever since Ray of Light she’e worked with unknown producers who she knew would be able to make the sound of the album a little different and “a step ahead”.  The producers she worked with on Hard Candy are already very established, thus, the sound of the album is nothing new.  If you want to take this outside, we can.  I will tell you though, my endo prescribes me really long needles (I think he hates me).
Now look what you made me do.  I’ve over-analyzed Madonna…
